In our present world we do find many preachers who talk about faith and Jesus but have him placed high on the ranks, isolating him as him to be not just a god but the God. By doing so, they go against the Word of God Himself Who declared Jesus to be His only begotten beloved son, whilst Jehovah Himself stays the Only One True God and demands to have no gods besides Him.
4 Hear, O Israel: יהוה is our Elohim, יהוה is one: 5 And thou shalt love יהוה thy Elohim with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. (Deut 6:4-5, NRKJV)
7 Thou shalt have none other elohim before me. (Deut 5:7, NRKJV)
8 I am יהוה: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. (Isa 42:8, NRKJV)
9 And יהוה shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one יהוה, and his name one. (Zech 14:9, NRKJV)
21 Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Yahushua also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, 22 And the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased. (Luke 3:21-22, NRKJV)
22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 Elohim is Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. (John 4:22-24, NRKJV)
These words Jehovah commanded must be kept in mind and people must teach those and not giving priority to the human doctrines.
6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: 7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. (Deut 6:6-7, NRKJV)
Jesus his exalted position as God’s assigned King and Judge must be known, recognized, and submitted to by all who would gain divine favour and life. Those who preach should not preach themselves or work for their own gain. They should be serving God and not gods, but also His beloved son, like the apostles also came up for Christ and his God. The apostle Paul wrote:
1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; 2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of יהוה deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of Elohim. 3 But if our evangel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the elohim of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious evangel of the Messiah, who is the image of יהוה, should shine unto them. 5 For we preach not ourselves, but the Messiah Yahushua the Master; and ourselves your servants for Yahushua’ sake. 6 For יהוה, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of יהוה in the face of Yahushua the Messiah. (2Cor 4:1-6, NRKJV)
In the first century of this era the talmidim or apostles and other disciples of Christ and of the apostles, were often spoken of as ‘preaching Christ Jesus’ or as ‘preaching about the son of God’ and being members of the Way, they’re claiming Jesus was the way to Jehovah God. In that time, soon others also tried to use the name of Jesus to get more people around them. But those Jews did not keep to the impaled Jesus Christ his teaching and brought many false teachings, creating a cause for stumbling and presenting a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. (Acts 8:5; 9:20; 19:13; 1 Corinthians 1:23; Isaiah 8:14; Romans 1:16; John 14:6; Acts 9:2; 19:9; 19:23; 22:4; 24:14,22)
An examination of their preaching makes clear that their ‘preaching Christ’ was not done so as to isolate him in the minds of their listeners as though he were somehow independent or detached from God’s Kingdom arrangement and overall purpose. Rather, they proclaimed what Jehovah God had done for and through His Son, how God’s purposes were being fulfilled and would be fulfilled in Jesus. (2Co 1:19-21)
19 For the Son of יהוה, Yahushua the Messiah, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea. 20 For all the promises of יהוה in him are yea, and in him amein, unto the glory of יהוה by us. 21 Now he which stablisheth us with you in the Messiah, and hath anointed us, is יהוה; 22 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. (2Cor 1:19-22, NRKJV)
From the writings in the Messianic Scriptures we can learn that the apostles did not go out for their own benefit and that their teaching and/or preaching was to Jehovah, God’s own praise and glory, “through Jesus Christ.” (Ro 16:25-27.)
25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my evangel, and the preaching of Yahushua the Messiah, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, 26 But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting Elohim, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith: 27 To יהוה only wise, be glory through Yahushua the Messiah for ever. AlleluYAH… (Rom 16:25-27, NRKJV)
Their preaching was not performed simply as a duty, nor did their heralding consist merely of speaking out a message in a formal way. It sprang from heartfelt faith and was done with the desire to honour God and with the loving hope of bringing salvation to others.
The one preaching has to have the Word near him. The Bible speaks of not only having it in the mouth, but also carrying God’s Word and the Word of Faith in the heart. There has to be confession with the mouth, the biblical truth coming from the lips. From those words which are preached people should come to hear if those preachers really believe in the son of man as the son of God, and have not made this ‘Lord Jesus’ into their god, but believe in their heart that God has raised him from the dead, so that they and those who listen shall be saved. We should know that for with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says,
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Master Yahushua, and shalt believe in thine heart that יהוה hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Sovereign over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of יהוה shall be saved. (Rom 10:9-13, NRKJV)
Preachers of God tell everybody about that importance of faith in Christ. Doing so, many may be against them, but they will not be put to shame. Therefore the preachers in the early times were willing to be treated as foolish by the worldly wise or be persecuted as heretics by the Jews. For this reason, too, their preaching was accompanied by the use of reasoning and persuasion to help the hearers to believe and exercise faith. (Ro 10:9-14; 1Co 9:27; 2Co 4:13; 1Co 1:21-24; Ga 5:11; Ac 17:2; 28:23; 1Co 15:11)
Paul speaks of himself as being appointed
“a preacher and apostle and teacher.” (2Ti 1:11)
These Christians were not salaried heralds but were dedicated worshippers giving of themselves, giving their time and their strength to the preaching activity.
2 But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our Elohim to speak unto you the gospel of יהוה with much contention. 3 For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile: 4 But as we were allowed of יהוה to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but יהוה, which trieth our hearts. 5 For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; יהוה is witness: 6 Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of the Messiah. 7 But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children: 8 So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of יהוה only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us. 9 For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of Elohim. 10 Ye are witnesses, and יהוה also, how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe: 11 As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father doth his children, 12 That ye would walk worthy of יהוה, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory. (1Thess 2:2-12, NRKJV)
Not being paid and dependent on a higher hierarchy they had no other person to depend on or change their teachings for. For them God was the main character and the focus of the story of Bible. They clearly could see how Jesus fitted in that book of books. For them it was also clear how every Scripture should be interpreted in light of God’s grace and glory and should be a proclamation of God’s Glory making everybody come to see the Plan of God.
Throughout the history of mankind that focus changed and as such we can see how the interpretation of the Scriptures is coming to suffer, leading to a weakened or corrupt interpretation and even worse to an incomplete and ineffective understanding of what God intended for mankind to know.
