Those grafted in again

The apostle  Paul wrote about the dispersion, the dispersed House of Israel. They had been “without covenant“, but Paul was sent out to recover them. So they were “grafted in again“ (Romans 11/23). Or, Grafted back in“.

If some of the branches have been broken off, and you, though a wild olive shoot, have been grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing sap from the olive root, 18 do not consider yourself to be superior to those other branches. If you do, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you. 19 You will say then, “Branches were broken off so that I could be grafted in.”
20 Granted. But they were broken off because of B, and you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but tremble. 21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either.
22 Consider therefore the kindness and sternness of God: sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided that you continue in his kindness. Otherwise, you also will be cut off.

God’s grace is given to us to continue his love and grace…….
Incidentally, the House of Judah looked down on the dispersed House of Israel, who then were mainly settled in the Greek-speaking regions (formerly established by the house of Dan), so Judah referred to Israel as “uncircumcision“ and “nations [ethnos]“.
John 7/35 speaks of “the dispersion of the Greeks“, that is, the dispersion who were the Greeks.
John 12/20 says that “there were some Greeks coming to worship at the festival“. Some of the dispersion.
It is not as though God’s word had failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel.
… 7 Nor because they are his descendants are they all Abraham’s children. On the contrary, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.”
8 In other words, it is not the children by physical descent who are God’s children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham’s offspring. 9 For this was how the promise was stated:
“At the appointed time I will return, and Sarah will have a son.”
I will have mercy on whom I have mercy,
and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”
16 It does not, therefore, depend on human desire or effort, but on God’s mercy. 17 For Scripture says to Pharaoh: “I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” 18 Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden.
